Rodeo producer and longtime rodeo advocate Bob Thain started his rodeo career in 1965. Born May 27, 1936, in Portland, Ore., Thain has produced rodeos across the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. One of his largest productions was in 1980 at a PRCA rodeo held in the Rose Bowl, attracting 52,000 fans. In 1987, he was awarded PRCA Man of the Year for his dedication to the sport. Thain served as interim co-commissioner during the PRCA organizational restructuring in the late 1980s. He has also served on the NFR Committee for more than a decade and for several years has been manager of the Binion Bucking Horse and Bull sale held in conjunction with the Wrangler NFR. He was the executive director of the Professional Rodeo Stock Contractors Association.
